ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Updated: Feb 21, 2022

Today, we celebrate our first anniversary and we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on all the wonderful work we have done. we wish to thank our research team, volunteers and crew. we are grateful for the enormous commitment, positive attitude, and ways in which we together prove we can change and adapt to every new situation. These attributes are priceless to the RED SEA PROJECT™ .

Your knowledge and experience were used to help educate students, teachers, and community members about the Red Sea and to create hands-on, collaborative projects that will help conserve our ecosystems.

We leveraged our training capability through online lectures and digital educational materials. We delivered FREE educational sessions to more than 5000 participants in 12 different languages.

The RED SEA PROJECT™'s citizen science programs supported local researchers and directly involved remotely based volunteers to increase ocean literacy by creating awareness about marine ecosystems and the threats imposed on them.

In this hard time, we did not stop in our efforts to further develop. In June 2020, we moved into a new headquarters in Graz, Austria and the RED SEA PROJECT™ became the first officially registered International Non-profit Organization focused on marine conservation and environmental protection of the Red Sea. We are aiming to establish strong bonds with governmental and non-governmental bodies in the countries around the Red Sea. This year will be a year of further interesting developments for the RED SEA PROJECT™ and we are looking forward to new opportunities as well as chances to make up for some of this past year's setbacks with great excitement.

As we look back on our first year, while there is much to mourn, I hope we are able to reflect on the many positive aspects of having managed our way through. Difficult times like these allow all of us to see the strengths we have always had but perhaps weren't making use of. There are no words to express our gratitude to our colleagues and partners who have been standing by us during our first year working hard and looking for the best solutions together. You have made it possible to give as much of ourselves as we can, you have not lost your confidence and kept a positive mindset. This is our united success! Our work is far from finished, and we know we cannot achieve our mission alone. We believe cooperation is essential in tackling the imminent threats to the marine environment!

Sincerely,

Red Sea, Egypt
