Are you a passionate and motivated student eager to explore the fascinating world of desert ecology, desert gardening, desert landscape maintenance, seed bank management, and nursery operations? We are thrilled to announce an exciting internship opportunity that will provide you with hands-on experience, lead public awareness initiatives, and cultivate your skills in the field of desert ecology.

This collaborative experience will enhance your understanding of the region's unique ecosystems, as well as the challenges and best practices in conserving them. Program Overview:

Our internship program offers a unique opportunity for master's and PhD students to gain practical knowledge and expertise in desert gardening techniques, sustainable landscape maintenance in arid environments, seed bank management, and nursery operations. This comprehensive program combines theoretical learning with real-world experiences to equip you with the skills needed to thrive in the agricultural industry.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. The selection process will evaluate candidates based on their qualifications, experience, motivation, and potential contribution to the internship program.

Internship Highlights:
  • Hands-on training in desert gardening practices, including soil management, irrigation systems, and plant selection for arid climates.

  • In-depth understanding of desert landscape maintenance techniques, such as water conservation strategies, native plant preservation, and pest management.

  • Experience in seed bank management, including seed collection, processing, storage, and preservation methods.

  • Hands-on nursery management, learning about propagation techniques, plant care, and inventory management.

  • Leadership opportunities to raise public awareness about sustainable agriculture and the importance of desert ecosystems.

  • Engaging in interactive activities, workshops, and community outreach programs to educate the public about desert gardening and conservation efforts.

Duration and Dates

3 Month (October - December 2023)

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:

  •    Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in agricultural sciences, horticulture, botany, or a related field.

  •    Strong interest in desert gardening, landscape maintenance, seed bank management, and nursery operations.

  •    Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation.

  •    Excellent communication and leadership skills, with fluency in English. Additional language proficiency is a plus.

  • Open to international Master's of PhD students. Priority for Egyptian nationals.

Requirements and Fees
  • Participants need to be 18 years or over, with a good level of fitness and agility to participate in this program.

  • Participants must complete the RED SEA PROJECT™ paperwork and agree to terms and conditions.

  • Participants will be required to attend a video call interview if selected.

  • Participants will be required to provide a copy of your COVID-19 vaccination record.

  • Participants food and board will be funded by the programme.

  • Flights and Visa for international students will be funded by the programme.
