OUR COMMUNITY

Connecting People with the Red Sea Around the World

The RED SEA PROJECT™ is more than just an organization; it's a global community of passionate individuals who share a deep love for the ocean. This page offers a glimpse into the heart of our community, showcasing the diverse voices and perspectives that shape our work. We are united by a shared vision of a healthy and thriving Red Sea ecosystem. Discover the stories of the people who make our work possible and learn how you can become an active member of our global community.

101

The Red Sea Project proudly collaborates with 101, a student initiative from the Lycée Français du Caire driven by a passion for environmental conservation and social responsibility. This partnership, focused on marine conservation, has seen 101 members actively contribute to Red Sea research, develop educational materials (like board games and interactive websites), and engage with local communities through awareness campaigns and educational activities. This collaboration exemplifies the power of youth engagement in environmental protection and highlights the positive impact of intergenerational learning.

KATERINA OLSHEVSKA

Here at Red Sea Project, we are honoured to showcase a variety of original artwork by people who are inspired by the beauty of the Red Sea. We have been working with Katerina, a Ukrainian artist, since 2022 to bring the many species of the Red Sea to life through a long-term illustration project. This comprehensive guide to the fish and the animals of the Red Sea showcases the beauty of our favourite underwater world and is a perfect addition to our educational curriculum for children.

NaturED

NaturED aims to produce sustainable eco-friendly resources that last for years to come. We were proud to be represented in a project showcasing the turtle lifecycle made specially for World Turtle Day. We are aiming to create a variety of learning resources using natural materials, appealing to both the visual learner as well as the tactical one.

DESERT BOTANICAL GARDEN OF ARIZONA

In 2023 we had the pleasure to visit the Desert Botanical Garden of Arizona.  They provided our team with an unforgettable and educational study tour, and we exchanged experiences that will benefit us in our mission to protect the Red Sea. Thank you for helping us learn more about botany, water conservation, irrigation systems management, seed bank, herbarium, greenhouses management and desert plants restoration.

ALINA HUBARENKO

Another artist we are proud to collaborate with is Alina Hubarenko, a Ukrainian-German artist whose most recent artwork has been inspired by the corals of the Red Sea and their subsequent bleaching due to rising sea temperatures. These vibrant original prints lose their colour when exposed to UV, using thermochromic paint to mimic corals losing their colour. Alina has made her paintings' colour loss reversible, representing how through conservation efforts, colour can return to our precious coral reefs once more. These linocut prints are available for purchase on her website, and Alina is generously donating 10€ from every purchase to RED SEA PROJECT.

LOGGERHEAD MARINE LIFE CENTRE

We are honored to collaborate with Loggerhead Marinelife Center, a global leader in ocean conservation. Their incredible initiative, Project SHIELD, tackles human-made threats to sea turtles through innovative conservation solutions. Currently, they are monitoring over 6,000 turtle nests along Florida’s coast and providing vital medical care to rescued sea turtles. During our visit, we witnessed the inspiring release of two loggerhead turtles and toured their state-of-the-art research facilities. We deeply admire their dedication and look forward to future collaborations to protect these vital species.
